Bring it Back: Dessa – Mineshaft [2005]

blame it on Shake January 8, 2010

Like I said last night when I kicked off this new series, I’m well aware of the slowness in the industry around this time. So instead of letting it moderate the updates on 2dbz; I’ve decided make posts with a track or two that may bring you back to a certain place in time, piss you off for not being “new and exclusive” or maybe put you onto something you haven’t heard before.

Tonight I’m going with the first track from Dessa Darling’s False Hopes. A five-song EP that reveals an often dark look at her life and loves (© City Pages). This song in particular is the first I heard from Doomtree’s first lady. And talk about a great initial impression. Showcasing both her lyrical prowess and ability to sing, over a suiting Lazerbeak production. Now in 2010, Dessa is readying the release of her first full length album A Badly Broken Code. Be sure to pre-order now as you’ll get access to a live broadcast of Dessa’s rehearsal for her CD release show. You’ll also be able to preview music from the album, listen to singers interpret the songs, and send in your questions to Dessa and the other musicians. The rehearsal will be broadcast live on the evening of January 12th.
