Childish Gambino speaks to TWV about the reception and attention his musical aspirations has received, as well as his upcoming tour.
Glover’s enthusiasm and appreciation is genuine. He states that he never wanted his acting career to be the reason that he is noticed as an emcee and purposefully went the independent route rather than siding with a major label to release his music.
“That’s kind of why I put it out independent because people can smell fake from a mile away now,” Glover says. “It’s not like it used to be where you are so far away from the artist that you can’t tell the difference. You’ve got to be real nowadays.”
