I was a part of this competition a few weeks ago (and lost, because there were only two people on my squad that actually knew how to play this game), but I landed first place in a couple races.
The Complex Mario Kart 7 Challenge at Complex HQ was the hot ticket on March 8th, as Team Mario, led by rapper Mickey Factz, took on Complex gaming editor Larry Hester’s Team Luigi for virtual racing supremacy. After two hours of intense competition on the Nintendo 3DS, complete with plenty of smack-talking and live-tweeting to dedicated hashtags #TeamMario, #TeamLuigi, and #3DS, Team Mario won in what can only be called a landslide. The members of the winning team each took home a Nintendo 3DS and a copy of Mario Kart 7, as did the lucky winners of the night’s raffle.
Seriously, how did the gaming editor of a magazine not know how to play Mario Kart? We were doomed from the get-go.
