Billy Woods celebrates the release of his new album History Will Absolve Me with a new video for his latest single.
The song, produced by A.M. Breakups, is one of the eeriest on History Will Absolve Me, built around dark, bubbling synths, muted horns, and a steady drum break, which does well to compliment woods’ fluid, complex flow, with bars like, “Black Robert Baden Powell, never caught without the ratchet/ Grass like Wimbeldon; wood racquet/ Rap like a simpleton, see new tax bracket/ So-called goons, turns out they schools was magnet.” The video, directed by Crosby, fits the track’s grimy, claustrophobic vibe, shot in cluttered rooms and decrepit hallways, red and blue tints serving to both outline and obscure.
