I had an opportunity to speak with the self proclaimed “good kid” himself, Kendrick Lamar after his set at the BET Music Matters show in San Francisco to discuss his experience working in the studio with West Coast legend, MC Eiht, which CA artists he hopes to unite with, and hints at a possible collaboration with another West Coast legend, DJ Quik. He also makes his case for the importance of purchasing albums. Purchase Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city on iTunes here.
“That world has to actually buy albums. Underground has to buy albums. Underground is so critical but at the same time, these people need to look in the mirrors, people who consider… who like the content and lyrics, need to look in the mirror and say ‘Do I buy albums?’ Underground don’t let it fall. Don’t let it die.” – Kendrick Lamar.
