The Outfit – Private Dancer (Video)

blame it on Shake March 22, 2013

Last week while enjoying the company of great people at the DopeHouse party we threw in Austin for SXSW, I ended up chopping it up with some folks from Dallas. After a good 20 minutes of conversation, I said my peace and made my way back to the bar. Leaving the circle thinking Texas has some chill people that live out there. Fast forward a week and today I stumble across the above video on MTV Hive and to my shock, I recognized one of the members.

To be honest, I didn’t even know he made music. Maybe I was told but after countless Dos Equis, shots to Makers and a few hits of whatever Austin rolls up, I was in a different state of mind. And by not using the “slap someone in the face with your CD before saying hello” approach, I was able to organically come across their music and actually WANT to listen.

All rambling aside… if you dig the music (which MTV Hive calls a mix of “Outkast‘s abstract ambition, UGK‘s femur-snapping insight, Three 6 Mafia‘s complex simplicity” and an all-around new sound), check out The Outfit’s Starships & Rockets: Cooly Fooly Space Age Funk right here.
