While the world awaits the release of Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail later this evening, the big homie Terrace Martin released the official press release for his upcoming album, 3ChordFold. With notable contributions coming from Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Lion-Dogg, Ab-Soul, Problem, Musiq Soulchild, Wiz Khalifa, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway, James Fauntleroy, 9th Wonder and the legendary Quincy Jones (who helped with a hip hop/jazz infused cover of Michael Jackson’s “Can’t Help It”), Martin looks to bridge the gap between jazz and hip hip with a project that’s described as a mix of Quincy Jones’ Back On The Block and Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001.

Quincy Jones and Dr. Dre have paved the way for artists like me. With this project I hope to be able to walk in their footsteps. 3ChordFold definitely shows my growth and I strive to one day to be considered among the ranks of the greats who have come before me.

Look for the album’s next single “No Wrong, No Right” with Robert Glasper and James Fauntleroy to hit iTunes on July 30th; with the album itself set to impact on August 13th.
