Today, August 11, 2013, we celebrate the birth of Hip Hop with the first party at 1520 Sedgwick Ave in the Bronx, NY thrown by Kool Herc. Just when you thought you were getting old, Hip Hop turned 40 today. Although it is “unofficial” in a sense, the origin of this explanation dates back to a house party cultivated at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. The organizer of the first ever Hip Hop function, DJ Kool Herc is known worldwide for being the creative force behind what we know today as Hip Hop. Thank you DJ Kool Herc and Happy Birthday… Hip Hop.
