As some of you may know, I left the warm and comfortable confines of Southern California for the fast-paced, schizophrenic nature New York a few years ago. Needless to say, not too many songs I grew up listening to while living in Long Beach get much airtime here, save for the occasional Dr. Dre-related song during a mix, which isn’t exactly ideal whenever I get homesick. Fortunately I met a few fellow CA-to-NY transplants, who also happen to deejay on the side as well, share my sentiments.
DJ Still Life launched this summer party series in Brooklyn last year, Str8 West Coastin’, where they take over a venue on a warm Saturday afternoon and play nothing but West Coast rap classics into the night. I’m honored to be a part of the series this Saturday (August 24th), when the latest installment goes down in Brooklyn. The best part?
