Whenever Common’s vocals are featured over J Dilla production, great things happen. And with “Quicksand” the streak continues as the chemistry is as strong as ever. Batting lead-off on the new single from the Yancey Boys’ forthcoming Sunset Blvd. LP (Sept. 17), Common sets the tone, Frank Nitti delivers a solid effort and Illa J cleans up with an impressive “middle finger to the doubters” verse.
