So here’s the thing: I had no idea that Tristan Wilds – aka Michael “New Omar” Lee from The Wire – did music, until I spun some of it at his VMAs pre-party in Manhattan a few days ago. When I heard some of the tracks, I was actually pleasantly surprised by it. Now, Tristan – or, Mack Wilds – is releasing his debut album, New York: A Love Story, on September 17th, with production and features by DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Havoc, Method Man, Raekwon, Salaam Remi, & Doug E. Fresh. Sounds very promising.
