One of the (many) highlights from Kanye’s second album Late Registration, a disgruntled employee used track 19 as the backing song for her viral “two weeks notice.” Says Marina Shifrin:
I work for an awesome company that makes news videos. I have put my life into this job, but my boss says quantity, speed and views are what is most important.
I believe it’s more important to focus on the quality of the content. When you learn to improve this, the views will come. Here is a little video I made explaining my feelings.
Fifteen million views later, “Gone” made it to the Billboard charts, debuting this week at No. 18 on the Hot 100, No. 6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 4 on the Rap Songs charts. Congrats Marina, you’ve made Consequence finally find Billboard success.
