The Doomtree collective was quite busy the past 365. And with the official follow-up to No Kings due out this year, the Wings & Teeth crew break down a complete list of all their 2013 releases.
Last year saw releases from Dessa (as well as non-stop touring), Mixed Blood Majority (Lazerbeak, Crescent Moon of Kill The Vultures, Joe Horton of No Bird Sing), Lizzo (Lazerbeak responsible for all of those killer beats), Four Fists (P.O.S x Astronautalis), and Paper Tiger’s 20 Minute Mixes.  P.O.S put out an entire We Don’t Even Live Here remix album with his awesome band Marijuana Deatshsquads, complete with all new MDS production and brand new verses from himself and one million other rappers. Sims and Astronautalis collaborated to release a track “This Is The Place,” which LA Weekly named one of the Top 5 Hip Hop singles of 2013.  Team The Best Team documentary was released on all digital formats and is now available to rent, stream, and download from here (or directly from your TV here via Amazon Instant Video, if that’s more your thing).  In celebration the crew released a music video/extended trailer for the film, cut to the No Kings album track “Team The Best Team.”  A ton of other videos were released including, Dessa “Call Off Your Ghost,” P.O.S “Weird Friends (We Don’t Even Live Here,” Mike Mictlan “WZRD Science,” and Four Fists “MMMMMHMMMMM.”  The crew closed out the year with their ninth annual Doomtree Blowout.  This year consisted of FOUR sold out nights, an all ages show at Triple Rock and three nights at First Ave.
After reading through the above list, I even missed out on some things. Time to play catch up!
