While out in Austin earlier this month, I had the opportunity to chop it up with New York-based artist Dao Jones and his people as they were in attendance at our annual #DopeHouseSXSW. Digging the vibe and eventually hearing him spit alongside Fashawn before skipping to my next adventure, Dao’s 100 Years project sat in my back pocket with my intentions of checking it out on the flight home.

Just like every year, that plan turns into playing catch up with my inbox and pushing new projects to the side. Finally getting some time to check it out, I pressed play and ended up enjoying what I heard. Self-produced, with the help of his brother Frank Drake (producer of YC the Cynic’s GNK LP) and Luke Moellman, 100 Years comes in at 16-tracks with a few skits and interludes sprinkled throughout. Stream it below and if you dig what you hear, pick up your copy at Dao’s Bandcamp page.
