MURS & ¡Mayday! Announce Joint Album

Having already collaborated on “Hardcore Bitches” from ¡Mayday!’s 2012 LP, Take Me To Your Leader, Murs and the Miami-based group are taking the extra step and releasing a new album through Strange Music.

On June 10th, fans will be treated with ¡MursDay!, an album that’s “light, celebratory and fun.”

“When we did our first record together, we really hit it off vibewise and we started kicking it with MURS every time we passed through his area on tour,” ¡Mayday!’s Wrekonize says. “Doing an album together really just came out of an organic friendship. He’s such a nice dude and he’s so talented. Plus, I’ve been a fan of his for 10-plus years, so it’s a great chance to work with someone that we’ve been fans of for a long time.”

Both MURS and ¡Mayday! are known for making music with heavy, serious and conscious themes. With ¡MursDay!, they decided to switch creative gears. “My intention was to make something that was light, that was celebratory,” MURS says. “I wanted to get with them and do something fun. Every time I’ve seen them, they’ve just been fun guys and I don’t feel like a lot of the stuff that’s released on Strange showcases that side of them, so we decided we wanted to do something more upbeat and fun. Also, both of our live shows are very high-energy and I wanted to do something that would translate well, so that when you see it live, the chemistry we had in the studio and on the album would all come together.”

Pre-orders for ¡MursDay! are available now.
