More #RappersDoingGood, this time from Nasir. Nas and his QueensBridge Venture Partners has recently partnered with Hirepurpose, Microsoft & Google to help fund General Assembly which aims to raise capital for the private tech school in NYC, which develops programs for engineering, coding and computer programming.

According to Beta Beat, the program came to fruition when Nas met GA cofounder Matt Brimer while down at SXSW.

The newly established fund will help give out scholarships to Latinos, African-Americans and women. The reason being: most coders, programmers and engineers are either white or Asian, and male. The “opportunity fund’s” intent is to bridge the wide gap between the technical vocational skills and other ethnic groups, and give the same opportunities to the aforementioned groups.

One of the greatest aspects of this new opportunity is the students who go through the school will have to pay it forward by spending “over 100 hours teaching coding to kids in underprivileged neighborhoods.” Each one, teach one. Spotted at Beta Beat via Complex.
