Following his DopeHouse debut with “God’s Whisper,” Atlanta’s brooding young-talent Raury returns with a new single “Sunshine.” Written and produced by the 17-year-old ATLien in anticipation of his senior prom; which went down this past Saturday.

“Prom was hands down one of the single greatest nights of my life,” he tells FADER from his home Sunday afternoon, with his date still seated close by. “Sunshine” is a spacey duet with guest vocalist Ari that bleeds into a breathless verse where he promises to give his girl “the kind of love my father lacked.” It’s a sharp turn left for the young artist who’s still figuring out his sound amid a sweep of newfound attention—including studio sessions with Thundercat, Mac Miller, and SBTRK, as well as an email of encouragement from Kanye West.
