NBA To Raptors: “Drop Drake, We Drop Fine”

The NBA can be very… particular when it comes to rules. So, after Drake (seemingly) innocuously saluted Lil B’s BFF Kevin Durant during performance at his OVO Fest a little bit back the NBA swiftly responded, fining the Toronto Raptors – the team which he is the Global Ambassador of – 25 racks for “violating the NBA’s anti-tampering rules.”

Well, none of that would have happened if the Raps decided to “part ways” with the rapper. According to the Globe and Mail, the NBA actually offered to relinquish the fine if they cut loose the rapper as well…

This has risen beyond the level of a spat. It’s an executive knife fight. Raptors officials would not comment on the Drake versus NBA situation. They are plainly loath to make their secret war public.

They also refused to address a key detail – that the NBA offered to drop the tampering fine if the team agreed to strip Drake of his title. The Raptors apparently refused.

The weird thing about all of this? Drake isn’t even getting paid for his new title. Essentially, he did every other basketball fan would say to a star player if they ever crossed paths (except Shake, especially that one time when he cursed out LeBron James to his face… but I’m digressing). The entire thing doesn’t make sense to me/is kinda suspect, but this tea I’m currently sipping on is bomb though.
