As 2014 begins to come to an end and publications plan their year-end lists,* Digital music powerhouse Spotify has released their Year In Music — breaking things down based on their streaming data. From Top Male Artist (Ed Sheeran) to Top Group (Coldplay) and everything in between — Breakout Artist (alt-j), Top Album (Ed Sheeran’s X), etc.

When it comes to the Top Song, it shouldn’t shock you that Pharrell’s “Happy” takes the crown. I mean, the song was everywhere.

What should surprise you (or should I say disappointment?) is that Hip Hop is largely void in every category. Outside of an Eminem mention in Top Male Artist, the genre we love is pretty much non-existent.

Take a look at some of the categories below, withhold the urge to vomit, and let us know your thoughts.
