MC Cor, whose Mega Philosophy LP made it into my Top 10 Albums of 2014, recently sat down with Rethunk/Wordplay Magazine for a one-on-one.

In the interview, Cormega explains what determination is: “[it] separates the achievers from the dreamers. Every emcee comes in with that “I wanna be the best.” For some of us, a light clicks on. We want more than that. We wanna be great. We wanna leave a legacy.”

On the state of the New York sound, Mega touches on the current trend of rappers from NYC who are attempting to sound “Southern” stating he doesn’t respect that (kind of like Igloo Azelia trying to sound “Southern”). He does, however, say he’s really impressed with Joey Bada$$, stating the New New York emcee sounds like early Black Moon.
