MC Lyte is most definitely a legend in her own right.
The battle tested emcee, who took on Antoinette back in the late 80s and released classic singles like “10% Dis,” “Paper Thin,” “Cold Rock a Party” and “Keep On, Keepin’ On” has released a brand new album today, in celebration of Record Store Day.
I put that work in
Check
I hustled hard
Check
I paid my dues
Yep

Legend is her first album in 12 years, her last LP being 2003’s Da Undaground Heat, Vol. 1. The Lifetime Achievement and BET “I Am Hip Hop” Icon Lifetime Achievement awardee took advantage of Record Store Day (as did Run The Jewels) – the catch being you can only purchase the album in physical form, pressed on a limited edition copy. It does however come with a digital download, so if you didn’t get a chance to purchase the album, go bug a friend who did.
A taste of what to expect from this new album leaked back in 2014, with the Common-assisted “Dear John.”
