It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Mannie Fresh. Hopefully he’s been using this time to bang out more music with Yasiin Bey.
In a hilarious, quick-fire interview with Montreality, the New Orleans producer with hits upon hits under his belt talks about his favorite childhood memories, his first paycheck, favorite cartoons and drum roll…. the mysterious Carter V.
Mannie seems fairly optimistic about the album, despite the current legal issues surrounding it and says the album will take us back to that “original Cash Money feel. Like, what you grew up on. That Mannie Fresh sound that you knew.” He’s comparing it to the first Tha Carter.
I’m a fan of Mannie’s sounds, so hopefully after all this gets resolved, we’ll finally get to hear the fruit of their labor.
