The lip-syncing, Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-capturing multitalented musician was a guest on Comedy Central’s flagship television show last night, speaking on the upcoming HBO documentary “Southern Rites.” The film, in which he is an executive producer, profiles the 2010 killing in Montgomery County, Georgia of a young black man by a local white man after the town – which was, unsurprisingly, still racially segregated even into the 2000s – finally decided to merge its proms.
