Anderson .Paak’s Venice debuted over seven months ago, but it still rides. With its spacey synthesizers and grooves, songs like “Luh You” and “The City,” which the video for was released today, fit right in the realm of a summer night.
Paying homage to the city he loves, takes the viewer on a drugged-out ride through the streets of Venice, California, with his friends, staring at the palm trees, beautiful women and starry lights of the city with only one season — the season of love and success. The one time I visited the West Coast, I made sure to visit the Venice boardwalk simply because of its reputation of its carefree environment (and the basketball courts, of course). Though I was there for all of 45 minutes, the energy of the place made the bike ride back to Santa Monica that much more tough, let alone I hadn’t rode a bike in years.
After the video, check out .Paak’s collaboration with DJ Premier and BMB Spacekid, “Til It’s Gone,” released on Friday.
