Jay Rock – “Gumbo”

The rollout to Jay Rock’s upcoming album has been slow, to say the least. His last album, Follow Me Home, came out July 26, 2011. The first single (“Parental Advisory“) to his next album, which we don’t know the name to yet, dropped over eight months ago. “Money Trees Deuce” followed in June, and today, on America’s 239th birthday, we get to share some “Gumbo” with the original member of Top Dawg Entertainment.

Discussing trying to make it to the top of the game, Rock weaves through the slow tempo guitar sample from J.LBS and hook, trying to add his own flavor to the big pot of gumbo that is hip-hop.

There’s no work on when Jay Rock album will be released, nor do we know the name, but hopefully we get it by the end of the calendar year to add to an already-excellent 2015. Stream “Gumbo” on Spotify below:
