How ironic – or coincidental, depending on how one views things – was it that one of the most watched television programs in BET’s history was also its most smut-filled? And how ironic – or coincidental, depending on how one views things – was it that some church show would air right after?

There’s plenty of reasons to remember the wonderful world of sleaze that was BET UnCut. Predating the explosion of YouTube, and by extension PornHub, BET UnCut was the place for either any aspiring rapper who didn’t have he major label budget, or the multi-platinum superstar who made something that clearly wasn’t child-friendly, or for anybody who just wanted to watch a bunch of smut peddlers (shouts to Mr. Eon, DJ Mighty Mi and Cage) reenact that one Snoop Dogg movie. Alas, in the network’s aim to “clean up” their act (because, as we all know, tawdry reality programs are much better), BET canned the show in 2006 despite, hilariously, protests to keep the show on the air.

Apparently the house that Viacom owns had a change of heart, however, as during the upcoming NBAPA’s Player Awards (which is slated to air Tuesday evening, July 21st, on BET) the network announced that BET UnCut will make its return to the network, also marking the return of music videos on the network since they canceled 106 & Park in 2014.

While it may be hard for the show to duplicate its success throughout the Aughts, especially now with the popularity of various music streaming platforms at an all-time high, it’s always great to take the time to remember the good ol’ days of Mighty Casey…

… Black Jesus…

… Joker The Bailbondsman (and Bizzy Bone!)…

… Ludacris…

and, of course, Nelly.
