Weeks after releasing his most complete single in a long time, James Fauntleroy follows with one of his more jumbled, incomplete singles with “Mid-Air.”

Fauntleroy described the sound of the song as, “like…when you’re not high yet but your friends are high and you’re like…just gimmie a sec lol.” You’re night high yet, you’re in… mid-air.

Fauntleroy’s sound reminds me a bit of John Frusciante’s solo work. Frusciante, who used to play lead guitar for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, excelled in putting together multiple guitar-driven tracks, pairing them with whatever vocal range he decided on using.

Listen to “Mid-Air” below. I may be reaching, but listen to Frusciante’s “Time Goes Back” after. There are *some* similarities in the style.

UPDATE: Another track called “Sex High” has also been liberated.
