Guess who’s back? After several setbacks caused by Hurricane Sandy, Brooklyn emcee Bekay resurfaces after a few rough years on the personal side of things. Often times, we tend to forget that rappers have real lives too. We see the music as entertainment and assume everything is peachy in the life of emcee so-and-so. When in reality, they don’t live on Elysium, and they share the same air as you and I.

“I’ve been through hell the last 3-4 years, the kind of sh*t I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, but nothing is gonna stop me from reminding people the quality of emcee I am with an LP that will rival my last album Hunger Pains as the best work I’ve ever done. I define Hungry, and the true hip hop sound of the gutter, the struggle, and people who don’t have a f*king pot to piss in.”

He might not claim to be a thug, but “Thug Music” is the title of his new single. Take a listen below and be on the lookout for Bekay’s upcoming (and appropriately-titled) album, Survivorman.
