Music sales just aren’t what they used to be. The days of going platinum with a sense of ease are long gone. Now, most artists are scratching and clawing just to reach gold status. Outside of Taylor Swift, there hasn’t been another artist (in any genre) to sell over a million copies of their album this year – until now.
Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late sold another 8,000 copies this week – shouts to Meek? – officially earning platinum status at 1.007 million sold.
If you’re keeping track at home, this marks Drake’s fourth platinum album, following 2010’s Thank Me Later (1.8 million), 2011’s Take Care (2.26 million), and 2013’s Nothing Was The Same (1.72 million).
