WebsterX – “Lately” (Video)

blame it on Patrick Glynn August 10, 2015

Haven’t we told you about Milwaukee’s hip-hop scene a bunch already? IshDARR? Reggie Bonds? Pizzle? Vonny del Fresco? Well here’s another: WebsterX.

The emcee’s soothing, peaceful “Lately,” produced by Mic Kellogg, gets an astonishing visual to match, highlighting the themes of perseverance and togetherness expressed in the song. Webster, too weak to walk and struggling to survive, encounters a group of people native to the land (maybe he knows them?) and they help the young man whole again. They party and celebrate before the kiss of death falls upon them, the fate that was with them the whole time.

WebsterX’s sound is similar to Kweku Collins, even appearing on the Chitown artists EP released last month. The positivity, raw subject material and creativity out of someone like these two is incredible, let alone for people in their early 20s.

Watch the video, beautifully directed by Cody Laplant and Damien Klaven, for “Lately” above.
