Continuing the promotion for his upcoming album, 90059, which we believe is coming out this Friday, Jay Rock joins Real Late with Peter Rosenberg to discuss his initial relationships with Top Dawg Entertainment and new music.
Being the first signee to TDE, Jay Rock has seen the progression of the label since its inception in 2008. It’s been five years since he’s dropped a project, so he discusses why it’s been so long, his relationships with the initial TDE crew and his musical influences. Rock describes himself as the “big brother” role, so it’s nice he’s shown patience in dropping an album while everyone else from the label is growing. Everyone else from the label has probably learned some valuable lessons from the way Rock has handled himself.
