O.T. Genasis To Release ‘Rhythm & Bricks’ This Month

Talk about riding the wave far after it’s broken into foam on the shore.

In my opinion O.T. Genasis – by extension Busta Rhymes, as that is his mentor-slash-business – should have dropped a project when “CoCo” broke free and ran wild throughout the winter of 2014/2015. Instead? Fans were treated to a myriad of remixes, a couple of soundalike follow-ups, a song that sampled Maxwell’s “This Woman’s Work” and no true mark-maker. It’s like the anti-Fetty Wap of sorts: yeah, “Trap Queen” was old, but then he followed that song’s success up with three more hit singles, and is about to strike while the iron is hot with his upcoming debut album.

But I digress.

Genasis has been teasing his new mixtape, Rhythm & Bricks, for what’s felt like eons (in the Internets music world, that is) now, and at long last it finally has a release date: September 22nd. With features from Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Young Dolph and others, O.T. still has the potential to make a formal dent in the rap world post-“CoCo.” We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, when that happens. In the meanwhile, watch a trailer for the forthcoming project below.
