East Coast producer K-Def links up with West Coast legend Blu for a previously unreleased joint, “The Boys.” This song is one of the many that will lay on K-Def’s upcoming The Way It Was LP, which consists of “a collection of rarities and unheard tracks from the vaults” along with “a handful of new vocal collaborations,” according the project’s cover.

This sounds like it’s one of the older, previously unheard joints. There’s a large vibrancy and youthfulness in Blu’s voice as he raps about cooling it and making moves with the boys in California.

The Way It Was is one of three project K-Def announced today. The other two, Back to the Beat Vol. 2 with 45 King and The Unpredictable Gemini, both had singles come out today, as well. Listen to “Sample Fast” and “Reminiscent of a Golden Era,” the first singles off each respective album, below.
