The statement rings true in a culture that in some ways, is almost run like a modern day slave trade. Before independent labels took ahold of the reigns once again, the suits, white collar workers and big wigs of the industries biggest record labels treated artists as nothing more than dollar stocks and commodities, being paid menial wages while artists were dishing out their own money to shoot music videos, stock up on tour merchandise, et al.
Those days seem to be long over, for the most part, thanks in part to labels like Soulspazm, Slice of Spice, Redefinition Records, Nature Records – and the list goes on.
I’m going on a tangent here, sorry. Above, we’ve included a world premiere of The Cold North duo’s new visual, the suitably titled “Pure” produced by BeatWyze with cuts by Shylow.
Pre-Order Overworked & Underpaid, out on iTunes now.
