I’ve been championing Big Boi & Phantogram’s (Big Grams) self-titled debut EP for so long now, that I’ve lost a few friends along the way due to my annoying persistence. “Yo, have you heard that Big Boi & Phantogram are releasing a whole album together?” “Are you buying the new Big Grams EP?” “What?! You don’t know who Phantogram is?” “Fam! This new Big Grams EP is gonna be flames!” Rinse and repeat. *shrugs* Rest in peace, friends.

Anyway, with the their new EP out on iTunes now (and an accompanying online video game called SuperGrams), the trio headed up to The Breakfast Club to promote the new project.

They explained how the project was initially conceived, how it evolved over the years and the interesting story of how they actually linked up:

The story goes, I was watching YouPorn or PornHub and I was trying to close out the screen, and a pop-up ad came up, and “Mouthful of Diamonds” was on there. I ended up Shazaming it and I liked the song. I put it up on my website as the jam of the week. [The rest is history]

Big Boi also mentions his new, third project he’s working on, including a record with Killer Mike and Jeezy.
