The summer season is officially over, but if you live anywhere southern part of the United States, it at least SOMETIMES feels like the summer will never end. The occasional shit-show-of-a-thunderstorm, the pool, sunburns, the days where it’s so hot, you still sweat when you’re inside with the air conditioning as low as it can go. These are still palpable and relatable experiences that will happen well into October in Florida, so songs like Jamie xx and Young Thug‘s “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” still sound like they fit the times even though fall officially started September 23.
That song, which ruled my rotation over the passed four months, finally has the visual treatment, and it’s just as fun and relaxing as the times the song creates.
Thugger and Popcaan, who is the additional feature on the song, rhyme along to their parts of the tune on rooftops as the sun sets, signaling, to me, the end of summer. But this doesn’t signal the end of this song’s run. If you ever have a dark day in the fall and winter, and if you live north of Atlanta, I’m sure you’ll have yourself a snow day or two, pop on “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times),” and it’ll be sure to brighten your mood for at least a couple minutes.
