At the beginning of 2015, Jamie Hewlett, the artist behind the cartoons that are Gorillaz, confirmed that the band is getting back together with a couple new illustrations of the members. Damon Albarn, the voice and music behind the band, had previously said he planned on releasing an album as Gorillaz in 2016. Well, it seems the star are aligning, as Hewlett confirmed a new album from the band is in the works.

In an interview with DIY, Hewlett said, “I’m working on it at the moment, and it’s going very well. I’m very excited. I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation.” He followed saying he’s planning on shutting himself away from the art world so he’s not influenced by other artists’ work. “Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don’t want to let that happen again,” Hewlett said.

Gorillaz last released an album in 2010 with Plastic Beach, which boasted some of my favorite songs from the band, “Stylo” and “On Melacholy Hill.” I’m ready, Damon. I’M READY.
