On October 14, 2014 we lost a real one.
Isaiah Randolph “Ikey” Owens was a Grammy Award-winning keyboardist who was a notable member of the Long Beach Dub Allstars, and worked alongside Jack White and The Mars Volta. He was also a mentor to Nocando. And with his latest single release, the Los Angeles emcee dedicates “Requiem” to the lost LBC legend.
Last year on 10/14/14 one of the realest people in music that I’ve met passed away. I tear up thinking about it every once in a while and we’re not even related nor was I his band mate or one of the hundreds of people from the Long Beach music scene that new him for years. IKey Owens always put money in my pocket and always kept me thinking about music theory and practice. He gave out nothing but positive vibes and never expected anything in return.
