For over nearly two decades now, underground rap veteran Shabaam Sahdeeq has been putting out quality release after release, standing up as one of the most distinctive figures representing storied independent record labels like Rawkus.

For his lesser known work as Mad House (alongside Nick Wiz) to more recent workings, the gifted Brooklyn lyricist has always kept is consistent.

Today, Sahdeeq has linked with Big Ape, a boom-bap producer hailing from Amsterdam with Sweden’s DJ Devastate laying down some mean cuts.

And a large portion of the project was recorded out in Amsterdam while the rapper was touring Europe in 2012, which also inspired the project’s name. “I realized I was using my art as a weapon,” he said. “Peep the hidden message in the title: Modern ART-ill-ery.”

Foreshadowing the EP’s release was the well received singles “Get It” and “Men of Respect” – the latter which featured the late, great PumpkinHead.
