Whether or not he was or will be credited for “Hotline Bling” means very little to Virginia native D.R.A.M. at this point. Yes, he’s ultimately vented about it, but anybody would after constantly being poked and prodded about it. Nonetheless, he’s remained undeterred and has pushed forward with the impending release of his forthcoming EP Gahdamn!, and following up the SZA-guested “Caretaker” he unveils a new offering from the project: the Donnie Trumpet-featured “$” (or, “Money”).
With The Social Experiment riding shotgun, the Nathan R. Smith-directed clip shows vintage footage of D.R.A.M. throughout his life as well as his family and friends. It’s easy to see how he got into music, as he was born and raised with a musically inclined family. And, like his video for “Cha Cha,” his family make appearances throughout this video also.
