Snoop Dogg – “Powder On My Clothes” f. Busta Rhymes

Producer Rick Rock is one of those West Coast producers that never and unfortunately received his just due. Alongside West Coast mainstays and legends the likes of E-40, 2Pac and Xzibit, the Bay Area beatsmith has also crafted songs for New Yorkers such as Method Man, JAY Z and Fabolous. Rock has now teamed with rappers from both coasts, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes, for the curiously-titled “Powder On My Clothes.”

Presumably landing on Snoop and Daz Dillinger‘s upcoming album Cuzznz, the song – with fellow guest Stresmatic – is a prime example of why Rick is one of hip hop’s most severely underrated producers as he laces the track with enough funk to make George Clinton nod his head in approval. While it’s a shame that Rick may never receive the same acclaim as some of his other contemporaries (mind you, he was a driving force behind California’s hyphy movement in the mid-Aughts), the West Coast will forever treasure his talent.
