Jeremih – “Royalty” f. Big Sean & Future

Here’s the thing with Jeremih (or, as Shake calls him, J. Electronica 2.0): he’s an extremely talented singer and songwriter, who is seemingly in his own way when it comes to his own music. In the last two years, he’s notched a pair of platinum singles (“Don’t Tell Em” and “Planes) with the latter getting a video a year after its initial release and the other having little-to-no promotion from his own label (which, at this point, I don’t even think he knows who he’s signed to). If he plays his cards right, his latest single “You & I” will likely achieve the same amount of success, but with the chances of Late Nights: The Album ever seeing the light of day apparently slimming, fans will just have to get used to the Chicago artist leaking his own singles Hakeem from Empire-style.

Which brings us here. Jeremih connected with Big Sean and Future for this slow-burning stone cold groove that fans will enjoy, but it will just bring forth another onset of “where’s the album!?” questions that he won’t be able to answer. It’s a bittersweet feeling, no doubt.
