Of all who have given a heartfelt homage to fallen emcee Sean Price, it was perhaps the apparent lack of one from his Heltah Skeltah brother Rock. However, Rock spoke to WatchLOUD and explained both the process of making and subsequent release of his heartfelt tribute track, “Da Streets Want Blood.”
“After I wrote [“Da Streets Want Blood”], I couldn’t write no more. I did not want to feel what I felt again while I was writing that.”
Rock also goes on to admit that his sadness turned into rage, as he and his friends were frustrated that they were unable to levy any blame on someone for Sean’s passing. Ultimately the rage subsided, and Rock was able to finish the song.
