Wonder where Taylor Bennett, the younger brother of Chance the Rapper, has been? He released his Freshman Year EP at the end of 2014, but he’s been relatively quiet since then. But it seems, now, like he’s been working on a new mixtape called Broad Shoulders, and today, we get the first single with “Happy Place.”
The song has a light-hearted, elementary-type vibe with its simplistic production and hook that revolves around “I know a happy place that we can go,” before Taylor brings on lyrics of doing drugs and falling in love. The video reminds me a bit of Vic Mensa’s “Down On My Luck” with its warehouse/basement party setting, though the song doesn’t have near the energy — and nor is it meant to be.
Watch the video above, and get ready for Broad Shoulders set to drop at the end of November.
