Jared Evan has become a bit of a favorite here at the DopeHouse over the last couple years. The singer/rapper/producer/director New York has showcased his talents handling the mic and the boards working with Statik Selektah, dropping his surprise LP The Art Form of Whatever, then making a low-budget, technology-driven video for damn near every song on the album. He’s an enjoyable talent that seems to have an independent, creative vision with a strong backing from his family and fans, which is why he made this new song, “The Richest Man Alive.”

Made for the people who have supported Evan since his upbringings in Long Island, “The Richest Man Alive” contains soothing, triumphant production from The Arcitype while Evan tells his supporters they’re the ones who calm his fears using great harmony. The message is pretty simple, but Evan flips it into an inspirational, booming song with an easy structure and tone.

“I wanted all of the most important people in my life to know that they are all I need to be a ‘rich,’ wealthy person,” Evan said in an email. “This industry always makes us think that we need accolades and materials to define our wealth. But I’ve been blessed enough to see it from a different perspective.”
