deM atlaS – “Grace”

blame it on Patrick Glynn November 5, 2015

Rhymesayers emcee deM atlaS dropped recently dropped a new song, “Grace,” a couple days ago, and though it wasn’t dropped on Thursday, it’s a throwback the MPLS native did “awhile ago with DJ Adatrak & Mike Shank of Sector 7G.”

This is high quality for a loosie, man. It’s giving me an ominous vibe of older Gorillaz tunes. As the artwork would indicate, the song, at least sonically, rings the hum of space exploration, while the lyrics boast conviction and brashness. deM atlaS tells a story without “grace” or “class” but rather with “confidence” and “second chance” as he proposes everyone gets together to “discuss what frustrates us, what makes us bond together, what makes us break up.” In a world where people are scared to speak their true feelings without a keyboard and computer screen separating them from reality, deM atlaS wants to take issues on face-to-face.
