It appears that the last two years have been ideal for artists to return to the music world after an extended hiatus . After releasing his first album in 14 years, D’Angelo began touring on a consistent basic. Prior to 2014, OutKast had not been active as a duo since there was a Bush in office. Even Erykah Badu will make her mixtape debut. This trend wasn’t limited to major acts also: brandUn DeShay plans to release his first body of all-new work in a half-decade in the month of November, and now the artist formally known as Spec Boogie has done the same.

Now officially going by his government name Rob Cave, the Lessondary emcee/graphically-inclined artist has not been seen since his 2010 album Introspective. He has, at long last, released its follow-up Books & Chicks & Brooklyn S#!t, today (November 11th). The twelve-track project has guest contributions from the likes of Your Old Droog, Donwill, Von Pea, Brook D’leau (of J*DaVeY), The Stuyvesants and more. If this trend of gifted musicians return from their self-imposed exile continues, hip hop music will continue to be in the great shape it has been in lately.
