One of today’s more understated musicians out today, somewhat mysterious musician BOOTS was seemingly snatched out of thin air to work with Beyoncé, ultimately becoming one of the more noteworthy benefactors to her massively successful self-titled fifth studio album. Following his career-changing contributions the singer/songwriter/producer has gone on to release both a mixtape (WinterSpringSummerFall) and EP (Motorcycle Jesus), as well as work with the likes of Run The Jewels and FKA twigs. Now, the multi-hyphenate has now released his latest solo effort, AQUΛRIA, which serves as his major-label debut project.

With the likes of Deradoorian and RTJ’s El-P (he co-produced “Brooklyn Gamma” and did additional production on “Dead Come Running”) among others making contributions, BOOTS’ 11-track album is rife with the same hauntingly hollowed-out melodies and sonics he has blessed Bey and the like throughout his rejuvenated career. While the project’s overall darkness may bring memories of The Weeknd past, BOOTS‘ work is clearly dissimilar than his contemporaries and allows his to stand out from them. Stream AQUΛRIA below.
