Sunday night, Erykah Badu continued her awesome week in the spotlight by hosting the 2015 Soul Train Awards, which were recorded three weeks ago. After dropping her mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, on Friday, Queen Badu took her platform to make a
true statement joke about Iggy Azalea.
As every host of a decent award show does, they deliver a monologue about people in the room and pop culture in general, and Badu used her monologue to appreciate soul music — not rap, which has developed into one of the biggest genres in music. She later pretended to get a phone call from Iggy Azalea asking if she was allowed to come to the award show even though she “raps.” Badu, right on cue, joked “you can come, ’cause what you doing is definitely not rap. … In fact, I’m gonna send an Uber for you right now.”
If Badu’s one-woman show, “Live Nudity,” was anything like her monologue, it must’ve been a must-see. Check out the crack on Ms. Azalea below.
