Kevin Abstract – “Echo” (Video)

blame it on Patrick Glynn November 30, 2015

Kevin Abstract has been on the DopeHouse radar for a while now. The Texas native has made some waves since dropping his MTV1987 mixtape in July of 2014, and he’s continued to build his buzz with dramatic music videos and singles he makes sure this listeners know won’t land on his upcoming project. (The songs were labels NOT ON DOASM because his next project was supposed to be called Death Of A Supermodel, but now it seems to have been changed to They Shoot Horses.)

Monday night, the leader of the self-proclaimed “boy band” Brockhampton released the first single from They Shoot Horses with “Echo,” and it came to pair with a cinematic visual. The song follows themes of doubt, regret and self-reflection as Kevin wonders “when did it all fall down?” The lonely video has Kevin navigating the streets of a large city, seeming to wonder replay the lyrics over and over in his head. He seems defeated, but as the song comes to a close, you can tell the act may be finished, but the play isn’t over.

Watch the video above, and expect They Shoot Horses to drop in 2016.
